Sunday 6th August saw the first ever Uniformed Services Day at Crossford Bridge. It was a collaboration between Trafford Veterans, the Blue light preserved vehicles group and Sale United FC. Over 1000 people visited during the day. There were 20 stalls and 25 vehicles to walk around. The on call fire engine from Sale fire station, GMP Traffic, Highways, restored Police cars, ambulances, fire engines, jeeps, tanks and military kit displays. The Royal Navy from HMS Eaglet brought their recruitment van and 156 Royal Logistics Corps brought a stall too. Entertainment was in the form of from Theo the mascot bear, Flixton Silver Band and the North West Veterans Corps of Drums. Paul Fairclough provided the radio coverage and interviewed some of our visitors. The Mayor of Trafford was also present and witnessed the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant by the North West Veterans Corps of Drums.
A huge THANK YOU to all who volunteered, attended, brought vehicles and stalls or contributed in some way! Heres’ to next year….. Possibly 28th July!
