On Saturday 2nd July, we held our first ever veteran’s lunch over at the new hub space at Sale United, Crossford Bridge. Our volunteers started the morning off with a litter pick and then helped to set up the gazebos and tables ready for our guests. Thanks to two of our volunteers who had cooked up a large pan of hotpot and a vegetable curry, some of the vegetables from the allotment were used in the food. Thanks also to two of our veterans wives as they made and brought two big trifles for dessert! The minibus was out to bring people in who had no direct transport. One of the guys from the weekly model making club brought a table of models that the group had made to show others. We were visited on the day by representatives from the Veterans Foundation and the Association of Service Drop in Centres ASDIC. Below is a quote from one of our local veterans.
“Well done to all who organised it. Wonderful food and company. Thank you.”
